PATIO QUESTIONS

What homeowners ask us.

How thick should my patio be?

Residential patios: 4 inches standard. Pool decks: 4 inches. Outdoor kitchen/heavy-equipment pads: 5-6 inches. We spec based on use, not just square footage.

Do I need a permit for a patio?

Most Solano County cities don't require a permit for a flat concrete patio under 200 sqft. Over 200 sqft or attached to the house, permit typically required. We know each city's thresholds and pull permits when needed.

Will the stamped pattern wear off?

The pattern is stamped into the wet concrete, so it's part of the slab — not applied on top. Color can fade in full sun over 5-10 years. A sealer every 2-3 years keeps it vibrant. We include first application of sealer in stamped patio pricing.

Can you tie into my existing patio?

Yes. We'll form the new section flush to your existing slab, use matching expansion joint material at the seam, and try to match texture/color as closely as possible. Exact color match isn't guaranteed due to aging, but a close match is achievable.

How long until I can use it?

Walk on it 24 hours after pour. Put furniture on it after 48 hours. Full use (heavy furniture, grills, hot tubs) after 7 days. Stamped/sealed patios need an additional 24 hours after sealer application before foot traffic.
